Fernhurst, Lynchmere and Camelsdale Churches
St Margaret's Groups
We have many groups associated with St Margaret's, Fernhurst that enable people to meet in a range of settings and at various times through the month.
Bible Study Groups
Every Tuesday at 8pm at 4, Bishops Close.
Meets monthly for Bible study, teaching, prayer and lunch. Contact Maureen Pavey (01428 656592) for details.
10am every second, fourth and fifth Sundays of the month in the Parish and Community room.
Sunday Club at St Margaret's Fernhurst offers children and young people the opportunity to have their own age-relevant service in the Parish and Community Room next to the church, joining with the whole congregation for Communion at the end. The Bible readings and theme are the same as those for the main congregation and are explored using story, craft and discussions. It's a bit like a 'mini Messy Church!' There is always a chance to share the fruits of the morning's Sunday Club worship with the whole congregation at the end of the service.
Usually meets at 8am on the first Saturday of the month in the Parish and Community Room next to the Church. Full cooked breakfast, excellent company and stimulating chat is always on offer. This group takes a break for the month of August.
The Haven "drop in" Café
First Monday in the month 2-4pm in the Parish and Community Room. Join us for a relaxing drink and chat for a brief escape from the stresses of everyday life. There will always be someone available in the café who is specially trained to be a listening ear, in confidence, if you need one.
St Peter's Groups
This group is aimed at developing fellowship and exploring our faith. A typical session will start with a craft activity or a discussion about issues as diverse as cookery, gardening or local and current affairs. We enjoy refreshments (including some memorable parties) and then study a religious or Biblical topic. These topics are suggested by members of the group and have included women in the Bible, can we bad Christians but better human beings and Jesus’s miracles.
The group welcomes questions and doubts and its overriding objective is to develop a supportive network among women in the community. We meet at 7:30 pm every second Tuesday of the month at The Courtyard, Lynchmere next to the church. We generally take a break from January to March and during August. Our first session for 2017 will take place on 25th April.
The Fold is our children's church which meets at St Peter's Lynchmere every second and third Sundays of the month. During the 10am service, children aged 3-8 years are welcome to join a separate session in the vestry led by our experienced team. We base sessions either on Scripture Union resources or ideas generated by particular festivals and events such as Mothering Sunday. As well as looking at a Bible story, we enjoy craft, song and art activities. Your children are very welcome to join us and, when there is space, parents are welcome to stay if they wish. There is always an opportunity for the children to display their artisitic creations at the end of the service.
